Millar Legal

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July 8, 2026

At Millar Legal, we prioritize client confidentiality and data security. This Privacy Policy details how we collect, use, protect, and disclose your personal information when you browse our website, submit data through our intake forms, or opt-in to receive SMS (text message) communications.

  1. Information We Collect

We collect personal information that you provide to us directly, as well as data generated automatically by your use of our platform.

    • Directly Provided Information: This includes your name, phone number, email address, physical address, and case-specific details regarding your legal needs. We collect this information when you schedule a consultation or complete a case intake form.
    • Automatically Collected Information: When you browse our website, we may collect technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and navigation data via cookies and similar web tracking technologies.
  1. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to facilitate and optimize our legal representation:

    • Administer, maintain, and provide legal services.
    • Process your Schedule A Consultation requests and client intake forms.
    • Deliver relevant, timely SMS updates that you have explicitly opted to receive.
    • Comply with regulatory requirements and professional ethical standards.
  1. SMS & 10DLC Messaging Compliance

If you submit your mobile number and consent to receive text messages from Millar Legal, you agree to the following carrier-mandated terms:

    • Message Types & Scope: We use text messaging solely to communicate regarding your pending legal matter. This includes updates, scheduling, or reminders related to your case—whether it involves divorce, a Petition to Modify, a Motion to Enforce, child custody, paternity, or business litigation. We do not send automated bulk marketing materials via SMS.
    • Message Frequency: The frequency of text messages varies depending on the active requirements of your legal case or inquiry.
    • Opt-Out Instructions: You can cancel SMS communications at any time. Text “STOP” to opt-out. After texting “STOP”, we will send a brief confirmation text, and you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you wish to opt back in, you must resubmit your request through our intake channels.
    • Help Desk: Text “HELP” at any time for assistance, or contact our office directly.
    • Carrier Disclosures: Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  1. No Third-Party Sharing for Marketing (10DLC Strict Standard)

We respect your privacy. Millar Legal does not sell, rent, lease, share, or trade your personal information with third parties for marketing, promotional, or affiliate purposes.

    • SMS Opt-In Data Exclusion: Mobile phone numbers, opt-in consent records, and personal data collected specifically for SMS text messaging will not be shared with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes under any circumstances.
    • Permitted Disclosures: We only share information with critical infrastructure vendors (e.g., our SMS delivery platform) strictly to facilitate your messaging services, or when required by law, court order, or formal subpoena.
  1. Utah Privacy Rights

In accordance with the Utah Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA) and the professional guidelines outlined by the Utah State Bar, you maintain specific control over your personal data:

    • Access & Portability: You may request a copy of the personal information we maintain.
    • Opt-Out: You can opt-out of digital communications or text message alerts at any time using the text instructions or unsubscribe features provided.
    • Data Retention & Erasure: You can request the deletion of your personal data, subject to restrictions. Please note that legal client files must be archived for minimum timeframes mandated by the Utah State Bar’s record retention rules, which supersedes consumer deletion requests.
  1. Information Security

Because we handle sensitive family law and proprietary corporate litigation details, we apply strict physical, administrative, and technological security controls. We protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration to maintain absolute attorney-client privilege.

  1. Changes to this Policy

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy to ensure continued compliance with Utah laws and carrier 10DLC messaging requirements. Changes become effective immediately upon posting to this page.
